Let the ex-owners talk
Our newly appointed Commercial Director had the pleasure of asking a few questions to the former owners of SERCOM. We are happy to share their insights with you:
Question 1: Potential synergies between companies are often a key reason behind an acquisition. Was that the case here? Do you see synergies between the former SERCOM and SKOV? If so, which ones?
Answer – Jan-Willem: SKOV and SERCOM Regeltechniek BV share a similar company culture and technical foundation. From the very first interaction, the atmosphere between both parties was friendly and familiar. The combination of Danish pragmatism and Dutch straightforwardness resulted in a smooth and productive collaboration, which ultimately accelerated the acquisition. Both organisations place great value on quality, reliability, sustainability and fully unburdening the customer. By joining forces, these core values are further strengthened. Under the SKOV-SERCOM banner, SERCOM is well-positioned to
grow into a leading global player in the horticulture sector.
Answer – André: The most important synergy is that we understand each other—both culturally and in terms of content. Hardware and software knowledge can be shared freely, allowing us to truly strengthen one another.
Question 2: What ambitions does SKOV-SERCOM have? And how do both the former SERCOM and SKOV contribute to these ambitions?
Answer – Jan-Willem: SKOV-SERCOM has a clear and ambitious growth strategy. While SKOV has traditionally focused on climate control in livestock farming, the acquisition of SERCOM marks a strategic move into the international horticulture sector. The ultimate goal is to contribute to a stable global food supply-delivered in an ecologically responsible and future-proof way. Thanks to the combined technical expertise, market experience, and innovative strength of
both SERCOM and SKOV, SKOV-SERCOM has all the building blocks to achieve these ambitions.
Answer – André: Our ambition is to continue developing high-quality products that meet market demands—particularly for the mid-range segment. Thanks to SKOV’s power and resources, we can now realise this ambition more effectively.
Question 3: You both now have a different role within SKOV-SERCOM than you did before. What do you see as the positive aspects and the challenges in these new roles?
Answer – Jan-Willem: In our new roles within SKOV-SERCOM B.V., there are many opportunities to contribute to the company’s growth in new ways. As Sales Manager Europe, I’ll primarily focus on business development, starting with the German-speaking countries: Germany, Austria and Switzerland (the DACH
region). SERCOM has already built a strong customer base in this region over the years, and these existing relationships offer a solid foundation to introduce SKOV’s product portfolio. The opportunity to further develop these markets and explore new ones with high-quality, affordable and technically advanced solutions is incredibly inspiring. Working toward sustainable growth, building long-term customer relationships, and actively contributing to innovation in the international horticulture sector—those are the challenges that truly energise me.
Answer – André: As Managing Director, I will mostly continue doing what I’ve always done: taking good care of the company. In the coming years, I’ll be part of an exciting strategy while also safeguarding everything that has made SERCOM special from the start.
