Meet Ignacio: Manager Latin America

Ignacio Rodriguez Gracia has been working with SERCOM for over a decade. He is a highly experienced engineer, possessing not only strong technical expertise but also solid commercial acumen. In his new role as Manager Latin America for SKOV-SERCOM, he will focus on Spanish speaking countries. Given his extensive involvement in SERCOM’s international business over the years, we believe it would be valuable to ask him a few questions:

In your view, what are SERCOM’s key advantages as a provider of control hardware and software compared to others in the market?

SERCOM has over 40 years of experience in the industry. By developing both the hardware and software of our systems, we ensure complete integration without reliance on third parties.

We are likely the only company in the sector that repairs both electronic boards and sensors, demonstrating our commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. Because we manufacture our own hardware, all new developments are compatible with previous versions. This guarantees our clients long-lasting equipment without the need for costly upgrades or system replacements.

Our new Cloud board connects directly to the Internet, allowing real-time access to the controller from any platform providing unparalleled flexibility, control, and efficiency.

What impact do you expect from the fact that SKOV, as a large company, is now supporting SERCOM within the new SKOV-SERCOM entity?

The acquisition of SERCOM by SKOV opens up a range of new opportunities for us. On one hand, I trust that SKOV will bring synergies, fresh ideas, and a new perspective that will enable us to successfully face the challenges of such a dynamic market. On the other hand, I hope their organizational capabilities will drive us toward achieving leadership in our sector.

Which markets do you consider the primary targets for SKOV-SERCOM, and why?

It is no secret that the agricultural sector is in constant growth and evolution. However, I believe that the key markets for us are those where consumers shift from buying food for immediate consumption to acquiring products for longer periods.

This trend demands offering higher quality and longer-lasting foods, where technology, automation, and quality control play a fundamental role. In this regard, we see Latin America and the Middle East as strategic markets in the medium term, while Africa and Asia represent key opportunities in the long
term. Of course, without overlooking Europe, which continues to be the engine of innovation and management in the sector.

What are your personal ambitions within SKOV-SERCOM?

I joined SERCOM in 2017 as International Project Manager, a role I am truly passionate about. This position has given me the opportunity to maintain direct contact with distributors and end clients across various parts of the world. What I consider very important—and something I want to preserve is the spirit of SERCOM. With this in mind, I would like to leverage my experience and understanding of our clients’ realities to tailor our products and services, aiming to
become industry leaders recognised for both functionality and quality.
